GCSE Results
Posted: 20th August 2020Young people have proven to be “exceptional” as they navigated unexpected changes this year.
Schools were forced to close to the majority of students in March due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
For GCSE students, it meant the summer exams they had been preparing for were cancelled.
Instead, their schools were tasked with producing recommendations for their grades, based on work they had already completed and ability they had proven in class, coursework and mock exams.
Today, the official results were released to students, including those at Forest Hall School.
Head of school Hannah Jones said: “This year has thrown lots of challenges at our students. Sometimes in life, things happen unexpectedly. I am thrilled with how they have dealt with such unexpected change. They have really shown how exceptional they have been.
“Our students who started their Forest Hall journey five years ago, and those who joined us more recently, have worked hard throughout their time with us. They have shown their commitment, passion and dedication.
“Although they have not been able to physically be in school since March, we want to take this time to celebrate their achievements. As they open their results, they should be really proud of themselves. I am proud of them all.
“As students move onto their next chapter, whether that be training, employment or education, they will have a wealth of skills and knowledge. They have not only progressed academically at Forest Hall, but they have gained lifelong skills which will support them as they move through their life. “While this academic year may have been cut short, they will have many memories from their time at Forest Hall. I want them to remember their Forest Hall days and smile!
“I cannot wait to hear about their future plans and welcome them back to Forest Hall in the near future to celebrate their successes!”
Along with Year 11, students in Year 10 and 9 also collected results for the GCSE courses they had completed early.
Miss Jones said: “Our Year 9 and 10 students, who continue their journey with Forest Hall, have kept engaged with their home learning and have kept up their high spirits throughout the period of partial closure. I have been really impressed with their dedication to their studies in what have been very challenging circumstances.”
