Today our Year 8 students had a day of workshops and activities focused on keeping safe. These included gangs, drugs, mindfulness, online safety and rail/road safety. Workshops provided by were great!

Our Stansted

Over the last 2 days we’ve welcomed over 100 students from our partner school . Year 11 students joined their mentors on a shadowing day and year 9 met engineers, a pilot, an X-ray technician and head of passenger services at the Aerozone. https://t.co/gEzjJHtIoe

What will the students learn about?

GCSE Students will learn about a wide range of topics including:

  • Business taxes and legal issues
  • Business communications

What skills will students develop and demonstrate?

GCSE Business Studies will enable students to:

Actively engage in the study of business to develop as effective and independent students and as critical and reflective thinkers with enquiring minds.

Use an enquiring, critical approach to distinguish facts and opinions, to build arguments and make informed judgements.

Develop and apply their knowledge, understanding and skills to contemporary issues in a range of local, national and global contexts.

Appreciate the range of perspectives of different stakeholders in relation to business and economic activities.  Consider the extent to which business and economic activity can be ethical and sustainable.

How will students’ learning be assessed?

Students will complete three assessments:

25% multiple choice examination – 45 minutes

25% controlled assessment – 6 hours of research followed by 3 hours to write up an answer to one question.  50% written examination – 90 minutes

What grades can students achieve?

Students can achieve grades from A* –G

After completing this course – what can students progress on to?

Level 2 or 3 courses in Business Studies, Business Communication Systems, Applied Business or Economics.
