Forest Hall School Achieve Skills Builder Bronze Award

Posted: 21st July 2026

Forest Hall School is proud to have been awarded the Skills Builder Bronze Award, recognising the school's commitment to developing students' essential skills for education, employment and life. This nationally recognised award celebrates schools that successfully embed the Skills Builder Framework, ensuring students have regular opportunities to develop key skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, leadership, listening, creativity, staying positive and aiming high.

Achieving the Bronze Award is a significant milestone, reflecting the school's dedication to preparing students for their future through a strong careers programme and meaningful learning experiences. The award recognises the consistent approach taken by staff to help students build the confidence, knowledge and transferable skills they need to succeed in their next steps.

Receiving the Skills Builder Bronze Award is an important achievement for Forest Hall School as it recognises our commitment to preparing students for success beyond the classroom. By embedding the Skills Builder Framework across our careers programme, students have developed greater confidence and a better understanding of the essential skills needed for further education, employment and everyday life.

The award also reflects our school's values, knowledge, confidence, success. We are committed to providing meaningful experiences that help every student build the communication, teamwork, problem-solving and leadership skills needed to achieve their full potential, making this recognition a proud milestone for our whole school community.

Our journey to achieving the Skills Builder Bronze Award has been shaped by our commitment to developing essential skills. This year, we introduced the Skills Builder Framework with our Year 9 students through our careers programme, giving them regular opportunities to develop and reflect on their communication, teamwork, problem-solving and leadership skills. Building on this success, we will be rolling out the framework to Years 7–9 from the next academic year.

Students have applied these skills through a wide range of employer encounters and enrichment activities, including work experience, employer workshops, university outreach with the University of Hertfordshire, and careers events with organisations such as KPMG, the Department for Work and Pensions, and Stansted Airport. These experiences have helped students grow in confidence and better understand how essential skills are used in the workplace.

Staff have also embraced the framework, using a shared language to recognise and celebrate skills development. Working closely with employers and community partners has enabled us to provide meaningful, real-world opportunities that prepare students for their future education, employment and training.
